Jack Stauber – Dead Weight lyrics
[Verse 1]
(Alright I'm done, ah)
I love what I can’t see
What’s expected of you, what's expected of me?
Now it’s quarter to three
Let it all get away

[Refrain]
Oh, what the hell can I do?
To fill the pages (to fill the pages)
Meet the strangers (meet the strangers)
Kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages (kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages)
A time or two
But it's all so good
To let up

[Chorus]
Dead weight (dead weight)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight) (floating around, around)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight) (floating around, around)

Dead weight

[Verse 2]
Got everything I need (haha, yeah)
Clothes on my back
The wind on my teeth (oo)
What I control is in me
There’s more wood to burn

[Refrain]
Oh, what the hell can I do? (can I do)
To fill the pages (to fill the pages)
Meet the strangers (meet the strangers)
Kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages (kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages)
A ride or two
But I fall so good
When I go, woo

[Chorus]
Dead Weight (Dead Weight)
Dead Weight, dead weight (dead weight)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight) (floating around, around)
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight) (floating around, around)

[Outro]
Dead weight, dead weight (dead weight)
Dead weight

I believe dead weight is about feeling useless and wanting to fit in and live a cookie cutter life.

I love what I can’t see, what’s expected of you, what’s expected of me

The opening is the best part in my opinion. It means “I would like to fit in and I don’t. Let’s do what people do to fit in”

Oh, what the hell can I do? (can I do)
To fill the pages (to fill the pages)
Meet the strangers (meet the strangers)
Kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages (kiss the girl, take it in, feel the ages)
    A ride or two
    But I fall so good
    When I go, woo

I feel as if this part means trying to live a perfect life (the full the pages part) also wanting to feel love and to give it (kiss the girl) he wants to live a good life and a long one with this person (take it in, feel the ages)
    This is all I have

I’m going to write a bit more in-depth meaning in a while but I just want to call out the connections to this song and two time. Two time definitely has themes about cheating (either being cheated on or cheating) and this one seems like it does too and it seems to hint and being cheated on, also the line “A time or two” could be a call back to two time. Anyways just some things I noticed
