Ricky Montgomery – Mr. Loverman lyrics
I'm headed straight for the floor
The alcohol's served its tour
And it's headed straight for my skin
Leaving me daft and dim

I've got this shake in my legs
Shaking the thoughts from my head

But who put these waves in the door
I'm cracking out
I pour

[Chorus]
I'm Mr. Loverman
And I miss my lover, man
I'm Mr. Loverman
Oh, and I miss my lover

The ways in which you talk to me
Have me wishing I were gone
The ways that you say my name
Have me runnning on and on
Oh I'm cramping up
I'm cramping up
But you're cracking up
You're cracking up

[Chorus]
I'm Mr. Loverman
And I miss my lover man
I'm Mr. Loverman
Oh, and I miss my lover

I'm shattered now
I'm spilling out
Upon this linoleum ground
I'm reeling in my brain again
Before it can get back to you
Oh what am I 'spose to do
Without you

[Chorus x2]
I'm Mr. Loverman
And I miss my lover man
I'm Mr. Loverman
Oh, and I miss my lover

I feel like its about someone who has turned to alcoholism after the death of their partner. We have the initial focus being set up that he's drunk or has been drinking and the final focus is repetition which symbolises his drunken state that forget things and repeats itself. We know the song is about a lover because of the obvious title. When there's the bridge of 'im cramping up but you're cracking up" links to his hurt state, cramp being physical pain to symbolise that the emotional pain hurts to much it turns physical. 'Cracking up' connotations laughter which shows that the dead lover is now at ease while the other is hurting.

I believe that this song is about a closeted gay boy who was dating another guy but the person he was dating passed away but he is unable to tell anyone about how he really feels because he isn’t out yet. However I think that at the end of the song he has come out and told everyone about how he felt towards this other guy. I get this impression because at the start he says ‘I miss my lover, man’ but at the end he says ‘I miss my lover man’ almost like he’s gone from adding it quietly at the end to saying it louder so everyone can hear. I think that during his time of grief he used alcohol as a coping method as it says in the beginning ‘the alcohol served its tour’. I also believe he develops anxiety because of where is says ‘I’ve got this shake in my leg’.

i do not know what this song is about but it does sound really sad and heart broken that whenever i hear or sing it i cry and when i sing it,it is like i am that person feeling what that person is feeling and i just love that song so good but i think it is about someone who is drunk and misses his lover who died and he is feeling sad where it says "I'm shattered now
    I'm spilling out
    Upon this linoleum ground
I'm reeling in my brain again
Before it can get back to you
Oh what am I 'spose to do
Without you"and also the part were it says "I'm headed straight for the floor
    The alcohol's served its tour
And it's headed straight for my skin
Leaving me daft and dim"means that he drinks to much and something is happening to him like maybe he is starting to hurt and he is like really really heart broken.

In the part where he says "what am I supposed to od without you" proves that he lost his partner as well. It's like he is currently lost and haven't accepted the fact that his lover died. He is drinking to forget the pain and he misses his lover so much. He also reminisces his times with her as implied in the second verse

I believe that the man is drunk because he lost his partner. He's drinking all the pain away. In the second verse where he says "the way in which you talk to me" part is like he is reminiscing his moments with her before she went away. And the song tells us that he misses her so much
