By, by, lully, lullay.

This song is referencing the time when Jesus was born, King Herod was King of Judea, where Mary and Joseph were staying the first couple years of Jesus' life in the town of Bethlehem. Unfortunately, King Herod heard the "King of the Jews" had been born, this was told to him by astrologers (the Wise Men and others) and because he was so afraid of losing his throne, he decreed that all baby boys born that year to the Jews be killed. Although Jesus escaped death by his parents taking him out of Judea (and back to Nazereth, where he would grow up), thousands of babies did not survive this mass murder. This song is a remembrence to all those children.
