Natalia Kills – Devils Don't Fly lyrics
I heard the angels call again
I threw myself a party
Chardonnay and oxy
I stopped the screams inside my head
I remember when you had me
Floating high like sid & nancy

They say it's not the answer
But I can't carry on
Cause I got nowhere, no one
Without you boy, I'm done
And when I'm gone
Remember you're the one
And just because I fight
Don't mean that I
Never learned how to love

You know devils don't fly
So don't expect me not to fall
Devils don't fly
But god, we almost had it all
But I got chains and you got wings
You know that life ain't fair sometimes
Devils don't fly... But I try

What's a girl to do when she's not strong?
When everyone that hold my hand
Gets cut from all the thorns?
I used to put my ear against the wall
To hear the screams, to hear the fall
More reasons to escape it all

And it's not the answer
But I can't carry on
I give my best smile, my last dime
But I always get it wrong
It's not 'cause I'm young
Or from a broken home
Maybe I just fight
'Cause I don't know where I belong

You know devils don't fly
So don't expect me not to fall
Devils don't fly
We almost had it all
But I got chains and you got wings
You know that life ain't fair sometimes
Devils don't fly... But I try

You know devils don't fly
So don't expect me not to fall
Devils don't fly
But god, we almost had it all
But I got chains and you got wings
You know that life ain't fair sometimes
Devils don't fly... But I try

Angels were never meant to fall
And you were the loveliest of all
If I thought god could fix this
I'd pray for your forgiveness
But I've been cast down
Thrown out when I crossed
To the other side

No devils don't fly

You know devils don't fly
So don't expect me not to fall
Devils don't fly
But god, we almost had it all
But I got chains and you got wings
You know that life ain't fair sometimes
Devils don't fly... But I try

But I try...

I don't know, I got something completely different from everyone. I personally think that the song is about a woman whose husband died (I've got nowhere, no one, without you boy I'm done). She feels guilty and thinks it is her fault. She becomes suicidal (And it's not the answer but I can't carry on)she also says,"but I've chains and you got wings, you know that life ain't fair sometimes...", she thinks that even if she killed herself she wouldn't get to be with him in heaven but would instead be sent to hell. Hence the lyrics "but I've been cast down, thrown out, when I crossed to the other side, no devils don't fly!" I don't know this is what the song made me think but maybe it's because I'm on the younger side and don't know a lot about Natalia Kills but this is my opinion and I stand by it.

I think the song means when she says ive got nowhere no one without you boy im done, i think she is feeling guilty that her husband has passed away and wants to join him in heaven but because she said devils dont fly, she is in hell because she commited (aka suicide). she also says ive been thrown out cast out when i crossed to the other side, meaning that when she killed herself she went to hell and heaven will not accept her for killing herself.

I believe this song is a bout a suisidal person who has abuseive parents. the lyric I heard the angles call again we can assume meaning death is calling her. They say it’s not the answer (suicide) but I can’t carry on meaning she is going to kill her self. Every one that holds my hands get cut from all the thorns meaning everyone that helps her ends up getting hurt. I give my best smile but I always get it wrong meaning she feels like she needs to keep smiling but no matter how many times she tries it never makes he actually happy. I use to put my ear against the wall to here the screams to here the fall or reasons to exscape it all means she locked herself in a room listening to her dad abusing her mother who was screaming. From a broken home also shows this

I think that this song is meant to perceive many meanings and perspectives. I see this song as a girl who is "from a broken home" and she's young which probably means she's gotten abused and/or her parent(s) get abused by the other or someone hence, "to hear the screams to hear the fall" which is really sad from the perspective that even though child abuse and domestic violence is illegal in the US, no one really goes into it and kids get abused all the time. I believe that she might've done something to her boyfriend/partner/etc. that resembles what she grew up with and because she's absolutely horrified by the thought that she'd be like her parents, she compares herself to a devil. She probably has a rare one who will always know who you are even when you don't. Wow I got much deeper than I expected in this meaning- Hope this made you think and enjoyed and remember that you can't choose your parents but it always gets better because you grow and make your own future :)

What the song means, is that once you are classified as a 'bad' person (aka devil in the song) you cannot be rise up and be classified as a good person (or angel). Natalia is saying that she feels chained to the classification 'bad' so that she cannot be a 'good' person anymore. Btw, that is just my way of thinking, so yeah.

I think it means that people feel chained down when they are born into one lifestyle, and what Natalia says 'But god we almost had it all' she might be referring that some people come so close to success, but are restricted due to lifestyle, past experiences, etc. And at other points in the song when she says 'Devils don't fly' and then immediately follows with 'But I tried' she might be referring to how people are coming into access of another opportunity and when the last 'But I tried' comes around at the end of the song, she (or who she is talking about) has finally reached the success or opportunity they have been looking for. On a side note, when she said 'Angels were never meant to fall' I believe she is saying that even though a person works so hard and shouldn't have failed when they worked that hard, they often end up failing anyway due to, yet again, background, lifestyle, etc. I would just like to say this is simply my opinion and you can choose to believe what you want, but this is to an (almost) full extent what I believe the song means. Have a good day, this had been L. M. Asaaena.

Honestly, I think these are all good answers! But...she also says “I give my best smile..my last dime but always seems to get it wrong”..maybe the abusive part is correct and maybe about”I spend my last dime”maybe by then she’s a adult and looking for a shrink and no matter how much she spends..she can never actually get over her past and the abusive part means the father probably told her she’s a mistake and she doesn’t want to accept it- and she fakes a smile because of that.

The song is that of a demonic possession and lamenting of its failures against the war on god the oxy and alcohol stop the screaming are the demonic voices that are pleased by the opening to more demons being able to move in dragging the host further down appeasing the demons delusion of rising up by pulling the human down. There is a hidden lyric by the echo of fly in demons dont fly going into demons dont truely fall. It calls on the most beautiful angel of all (in the past satan) it cries that we almost had it all a delusion on demons that they could have defeated god. Crying that its not fair demons are truely sad creatures

I think this is about a relationship. She is with someone she has deemed “good”, while she has deemed herself “bad”. The way I see it, she can’t go with them on to success, because she is bad, and bad people aren’t successful. As seen in the chorus, “devils don’t fly.” She is saying to this person you can’t expect her to succeed, and that while she will try her hardest to make it work, it is doomed to fail. This theory is supported by the angel stanza with, “angels were never meant to fall, and you were the loveliest of all” . This is her essentially saying that they should go on without her, that she is holding them back, that they shouldn’t stay here with her. This is also seen in the “I’ve got chains, and you’ve got wing line”, and the “life ain’t fair some times” is her essentially arguing that this is how it is. The repeated “But I tried” is her final acceptance that this didn’t work, and was never going to. This meaning is further supported by the line “just because I fight doesn’t mean I never learned how to love”. She is saying she can love, she is just to flawed to be with this person.

    What i think the song is about;
Its about a girl/boy who has been shut into a corner of life as they had lost so many things in life but yet they also have many crime records (stealing, killing, robbing, etc.) but when they come across someone they looked up to and that person looks down on them and discorages them then yet the boy/girl starts to become suicidal as if they r trapped ("But I've Got Chains, And You Got Wings") inside the devils control and they can't break free but yet that person they looked up to have "wings" possibly meaning they have freedom and they don'.
But like 2-5 years later the main girl/boy has changed and can now prove to be a good person towards that other.

thats just what i think on the song, I think its about the difference between Freedom and No Freedom

Everyone at school hates me, so I listen to this song to remind me that I am better than them, and this song also reminds me of my grandad before he past away, the best man in the world, he meant everything to me. Funnily , he passed away the night before he was gonna smash through my front door to see me, so I can't help but think it was my fault that he got so worked up over me until the point he had the heart attack before I could see him, let alone say hello. I have changed since, got more violent since his passing and got more snappy at my stepmother, thinking that it was her fault as well that I couldn't see him before he died. 2 years later, first day at high school I finally meet my friend and that made me a bit better. She was so sad with me when she heard that the best man in the world died. She wondered why I missed half of a whole day and I got in trouble with the school, but my stepmum and my dad talked to the school that it was his funeral. Now I hate airplanes because whenever I saw an airplane before he died, I used to think ' That could be grandad coming from russia to see me ' . RIP Grandad John Fraser

I think this is about the inequality between men and women. "I heard the angels call again, I threw myself a party, chardonnay and oxy" men were always promoted and catcalling women, so girls tried to get away from it. "I remeber when you had me, floating high like Sid and Nancy" could be a reference to men manipulating and using woman for this selfish needs or sex. "cause I got nowhere, no-one, without you boy I'm done" girls have no status and are looked down upon without more than with a man. "and just because I fight don't mean that I never learned to love" girls fight for simple rights and equality but as soon as they talk about it men get defensive and think it's bs and say "not all men" and that men have it harder etc etc so they don't want to be with a girl like that, but if they treated the girl right they'd see how much she had to offer "You know Devils don't fly so dont expect me not to fall ~~ but i got chains and you got wings, you know lofe ain't gair sometimes ~ but i try" girls always have it harder and dont have the same privilages as men but girls still try hard and get up to the same level as men but are still shamed.

I discovered this song as a GLMV (Gacha Life Music Video) so I just figure it's a literal Angels- and- Demons song-
IDK, if you search "Devils Don't Fly GLMV" on Youtube you WILL get a bunch of GLMVs of Angels and Demons and all that stuff. Soooo- yeah. This post was probably not helpful......

I think it’s about a girl who is deemed “bad” who is in love with a boy who is “good”. They used to be together but they broke up and she becomes suicidal. It’s not “because she’s in a broken home”, because the song said so. The boy now ignores her.
