Archie And Edith Bunker – Those Were The Days lyrics
Boy the way Glenn Miller Played
Songs that made the Hit Parade
Guys like us we had it made
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then
Girls were girl and men were men
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again

Didn't need no Welfare state
Everybody pulled his weight
Gee our old Lasalle Ran great

Those were the days!

For the past fifty-four years, I have been struggling to discern the seventh line of "Those Were the Days"- with no luck! I knew it had something to do with Herbert Hoover- but, I could never quite crack it! I always thought it was "Seems to me we could always use a man like Herbert Hoover for racket!" ( whatever in the hell that means! ) It seems the actual lyric is "Seems to me we could always use a man like Herbert Hoover for mayor!" Well, at least I FINALLY know what that lyric is, after fifty-four years of struggling with it! Life is good!

I have spent the past fifty-four years trying to figure out what in the hell the seventh line of "Those Were the Days" was- I could figure out it had something to do with Herbert Hoover- but that was it! Now, finally, fifty-four long, ignorant years later, I have the answer- "Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again!" Okay! It always sounded to ME like it was saying "Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover for racket!"- ( whatever the hell that means! ) but, at least I now-finally- have the real answer! Life is good!
