Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do lyrics
[Verse 1]
I don't like your little games
Don't like your tilted stage
The role you made me play
Of the fool, no, I don't like you
I don't like your perfect crime
How you laugh when you lie
You said the gun was mine
Isn't cool, no, I don't like you (oh)

[Pre-Chorus]
But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time
Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time

I've got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined
I check it once, then I check it twice, oh!

[Chorus]
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me do

[Verse 2]
I don't like your kingdom keys
They once belonged to me
You asked me for a place to sleep
Locked me out and threw a feast (what?)
The world moves on, another day, another drama, drama

But not for me, not for me, all I think about is karma
And then the world moves on, but one thing's for sure
Maybe I got mine, but you'll all get yours

[Pre-Chorus]
But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time
Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time
I've got a list of names and yours is in red, underlined
I check it once, then I check it twice, oh!

[Chorus]
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me do

[Bridge]
I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams
I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams
I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams
I don't trust nobody and nobody trusts me
I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams
(Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me—)
"I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now
"Why? Oh, 'cause she's dead!" (Oh)

[Chorus]
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me do
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me—
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me do

The song talks about slavery where it still exists, as well as human exploitation and cruelty to women (sexism etc.). Although Taylor Swift enjoyed her golden year in the musical industry in 2010, she has been changing musical styles ever since her fourth album, Red, was released. Take this song, for example. It contains lyrics relating to cruelty, slavery, evil, dread, gloom, and exploitation. Plus, since Taylor Swift seemingly took a peek into how people can be buried alive, we can prove that she was buried alive once in the pre-chorus.

Therefore, this song is, in my opinion, a mess compared to her past songs, the majority of which didn't contain lyrics related to cruelty, possibly due to the lyrics relating to cruelty and slavery, as you can hear throughout the entire song.

I was with him when he wrote this one, this is Taylor's favorite. It has about three levels of meaning, the meaning that Taylor holds dear is this: It's about how the spirit that possesses Taylor was kicked out of paradise for being narcissistic and wanting to be exalted over everything. The song outlines how he never accepted the truth around that fate, while maintaining the narcissism and pride, he explains how even though he hates what was responsible for all good things, he would like to pervert them all to where he is in the center and main attention of everything he hates, taking the place of the one that created it all and never adopting any good trait like gratitude. Even to the extent of rewriting history/timelines, perverting language, influencing spiritually dead people and moving from mortal body to mortal body throughout the ages "rising from the dead", a cheap perversion and belittling of real resurrection power. The song is a short synopsis of what an inferior being without the capacity to create has to do in order to exalt itself among the dead. It also displays the tactic of an abuser, projecting your own bad actions on your opponent while trying to get credit for their accomplishments and blaming them for your own problems. In order to feel vindicated for the consequences of it's actions and corrupt nature, the spirit that possesses Taylor has to attempt attacking and corrupting the loved ones of who it blames, to pervert the loved ones of it's enemy into it's image instead, to get it's own corrupt version of a family and worshippers as payback for the consequences it brought on itself.
