Panic! At The Disco – When The Day Met The Night lyrics
When the moon fell in love with the sun
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night

When the sun found the moon
She was drinking tea in a garden
Under the green umbrella trees
In the middle of summer

When the moon found the sun
He looked like he was barely hanging on
But her eyes saved his life
In the middle of summer

In the middle of summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer, summer, summer
All was golden when the day met the night

So he said, "Would it be all right
If we just sat and talked for a little while
If in exchange for your time
I give you this smile? "

So she said, "That's okay
As long as you can make a promise
Not to break my little heart
Or leave me all alone in the summer. "

Well he was just hanging around
Then he fell in love
And he didn't know how
But he couldn't get out
Just hanging around
Then he fell in love

In the middle of summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
Summer, summer, summer
When the moon, fell in love, with the sun
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night

I think this song is so cute. It's a metaphor, representing how opposites attract. But without the day, there wouldn't be the night and vice versa. It's saying how opposites depend on each other to help but it's also representing a specific relationship. It's how the girl is all bubbly and golden and the guy is basically a train wreck. She easily picks him up and they fall in love and "all was golden in the sky." I also kind of thought when Brandon said it was in summer, that the longest day of the year is in the summer. Hence, the night is shorter. The sun saved the moon after the longest day of the year by giving it gradually more time to shine. They made a promise to rely on each other so the other doesn't get lonely or down.

Believe in the irony of the song. In the song it was described that the sun was the one barely hanging on (unless it's a misplaced modifier), and the moon was the one that saved the sun's life. It's ironic in the sense that the sun, usually portrayed as someone cheerful, is the one who was down in this situation. It also shows that even though a person looks and acts happy (the sun), deep down, that person may actually be suffering.

That's what it's about. It's possibly one the sweetest songs I've ever heard in my entire life.
The sun and moon symbolizing the girl and boy are a great way of portraying an almost like Romeo and Juliet type relationship. Not so much in the way of the families being rivals and what not but more like they're not supposed to fall in love with each other. Because they're opposites, the sun and moon and only meet at certain points. Like falling in love with someone who only goes to your. World known camp but lives in a different part of the world(I totally just made that up).
