He feels like a man drowning, similar to a man drowning in water, but he is drowning in a "sea of love" for her. He can't keep his head above water because all his thoughts are about her. She's not in love with him anymore and he wants to make it out alive by getting his feet back on solid ground. Then he can move on with his life, quit drowning himself with thoughts and remembrances of her.

He's reminding his girl about the times she use to call "him". Called him on his cellphone late at night, cause he was the man she wanted and preferred. He is wondering what happen to those times. He knew when "she" called him late night, she was calling to have sex. So when the phone rang that late at night it only meant one thing, a booty call. He misses those times and what happen to that.
