You have some of the lyrics wrong. It's not "But for that they got to pay" It's "but for that they got a pill." Also, it's not "try to be still." It's Child be still. I have the cd insert with lyrics right in my hand.
I believe that she feels lost and abandoned. I think the break down of her marriage has amplified for her the condition of the world as a whole and she's seeking guidance. Ave Mary A is a play on the prayer Ave Maria or Hail Mary. Great songs. Having gone through a divorce myself and experienced the feeling of abandonment, desolation and a crisis of faith, I can truly relate to this sound. It really touches me.
