In the world of Christians, we fear death but all want to go to heaven. Oli is then saying that he can't fear death because he's already dead on the inside from everything dragging him down.

Ronnie is basically saying how he's been told how to live his life by directions from other people, and how hes messed up and wound up off track, but when he found how good life can be, he actually got back on track, and would do anything to stay that way.

Ronnie's basically explaining how he overdosed and it was kinda a wake up call because he finally realized how easy this could kill him. The fact death almost caught up to him, he's never gonna forget, and he keeps the memory of the overdose with him.
