"Living up to gender roles and having absent minds" means that we are put under pressure to portray gender co-ordinated stereotypes. Also, that we are brainwashed into believing that rigid gender boundaries are essential for living a normal life for example: girls must be seen as weak, prissy characters that need a strong man to protect them and boys can't wear pink and must act manly and aggressive.
