This song written by Dennis Wilson, is about a woman. The only woman in the world that Dennis ever wanted. Caroline. There's another beach boys tune called Caroline. She did indeed leave Dennis. Couldn't take his addiction to drugs any longer, she moved on. Dennis however did not. Years of drug abuse has left him mentally impaired and unable to perform.
