I think I read somewhere that he wrote this song about his grandmother. The first word speaks of him trying to keep her advice, but it's hard to stay positive when the world is the way it is. The 5th stanza talks about how her wisdom has helped him grow up to be the way he is now. He mentions "if you could see now" and I think that means she died. The only thing that would keep me from thinking it's about his grandmother is "finally found you someone else". But that can mean she met God or something. I don't know.
The chorus talks about how he and this person have a love that others only talk about.

Wow! So much hate. But I can understand where someone would have their doubts, especially after seeing the things they've seen. The fact is, Christianity is perfect. But Christians are not. It's just like politics. If all politics were uncorrupted, we'd see a perfect government. I hate that there are Christians who really mess things up for Christianity (and I'm pointing the barrel at my own chest sometimes) and lead unbelievers even further away.
