Pocahontas laments the sacrifice one must make to live steady and safe as her father, Powhatan, would have her do. That conventional life does not allow for pursuing one's dreams and exploring new territories and different ways of living. The handsome sturdy walls represent a kind of trap that would keep Pocahontas from discovering what possibilities lie in choosing a different kind of life from the one her father and her tribe expect.
